well, hello there, dear interested reader person.
i sit, most uncomfortably, in the airport "lounge" at cdg while i wait for my colleagues to arrive from their respective countries. the cab ride out to the university is SO expensive that it makes sense for use to cab-share as much as we can.
i have about 20 minutes or so until i know of one flight to arrive, for certain.
the layover at lhr was boring. the airport is crap and the seating is a joke. they make no attempt to communicate with the travelers to let you know if your flight is late, early or even boarding! i was really disappointed in that.
let me go back and tell you a little about the "big" flight over though.
american airlines has adequately helped convince me of why so many americans are obese. holy balls! they feed you and feed you and water/liquid you non-stop. i had a salmon steak, rice, weird vegetables and bread for dinner right when we got on the plane ... following a beverage service. then immediately following dinner, another beverage service. a bit later, snacks and beverages and then just before landing they came thru with a "breakfast" snack but was larger than any breakfast i typically eat. good grief.
i sat i coach headed over here and i will tell you that i plan to do my best to upgrade to business on the way back. ugh. i think it wouldn't have been so bad had i been able to not be in the last row of a section so that i couldn't recline fully. maybe. i don't know. take that into account with the LARGE man that occupied the seat to my left ... yeah.
i did get to watch "holiday". what a cute movie.
i digress.
the flight from lhr to cdg was mostly uneventful. i had the fortune of sitting next to two polite british businessmen. i had the misfortune of sitting behind a woman who clearly did not believe in the use of body deodorant.
WHAT IS UP WITH THAT!? how can you even stand to SMELL yourself all damn day like that? it was absolutely disgusting. plain and simple. all the folks around us started coughing and gagging a bit when she boarded. man oh man.
so far i've been unable to take pictures but that should change shortly once we get on the way out to les-fontaines.
did you know that british airways only allows for you to have ONE carry on bag, total. yeah, i didn't know that and had to cram all of my photo stuff in my briefcase and all that crap around while i checked the camera bag. i am so not happy about that. at least on the way home it's a direct flight.
so pictures will be available this evening at some point.
okay, battery is low and the flight should arrive shortly.
xoxo from paris.
